ASD Assessment - Children 6 - 15y

​​​1. Obtain a comprehensive medical evaluation by a pediatrician

  • Must include a detailed history, physical exam and appropriate laboratory investigations

  • Please reach out to your child’s pediatrician for a copy of the report

2. Complete our “Request for New Assessment” form

3. Complete the following three forms and email them to info@drkaierosborough.ca

4. Wait for communication from Dr. Rosborough’s office

  • Once your Booking Request Form and Payment Agreement have been received, we will send an email with the next steps and our intake form

The typical assessment format:

  • Complete intake forms and questionnaires

  • Parent Interview (1-2 hours)

  • Child play and interview session (60-90 minutes)

  • Feedback (1 hour)

  • Scoring and report writing (5-6 hours)

The outcome of an ASD assessment is a comprehensive written report, which outlines the procedures, results, and detailed recommendations. 

You can choose to access ASD assessments through the government-funded route; these are free of charge. In Northern BC, they are completed through the Northern Health Assessment Network. You will need a referral from a physician or speech -language pathologist (SLP).  

ASD Assessment - Age under 6  

Typical Format:

  • Parent Interview: 2 hours

  • Child Interview: 2 hours

  • Feedback: 1 hour

  • Report Writing and Scoring: 5-7 hours

There are several components to a private ASD assessment for children under 6. All clinicians must agree on the diagnosis in order to obtain an ASD diagnosis. In addition to the Clinical diagnostic assessment by the QS, your child will also require three other components of the assessment:

  1. Psychology

  2. Speech Language

  3. Pediatrics*

*Have you been referred to a paediatrician to query autism?  If not, you will need to ask your family doctor to refer you to a paediatrician.
