My child received the ASD diagnosis. Now what?

There is no cure for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) however, early intervention with ASD specific allied health professionals can effectively help improve the symptoms. In B.C., the following amounts are allocated:

  • Under Age 6  - Up to $22,000 per year

  • Ages 6 - 18  - Up to $6,000 per year (with the rest of the funding going to the school)

Funds may be used for:

  • Behaviour Interventionists, Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists

  • Life skills and social skills programs

  • Out-of-school learning support/tutoring

  • Specialized therapeutic activities and camps designed to address your child’s ASD

  • Dietary counselling from a registered dietician

  • Family counselling/therapy

  • Other interventions as recommended by a professional
